Help on finding a subwoofer
im looking to add a sub to the stock stereo (i think the stock system is good just the bass sucks when turned loudly, and on a budget).
i dont know much about car audio though, what would be a good choice? i want to get the best kick for my money UPDATE FEB 21 2012: sorry i never got around to posting this but i got my subs around 2 weeks ago .. my car guy hooked me up with two 12s with a 2400watt amp and a bass knob and installation for 310.. subs are q-audio and very high quality and they KNOCKK haha.. |
Here are a couple of links that may help. I personally love JL Audio subs. I currently have a 12" JL W6 and it's more than enough for me. I had two 8" JL W3s, but swapped them out for my current sub. Good luck in your search!

You are bound to get a lot more responses if you post the thread in the proper section...not to mention that you'll get more responses from those searching out the same topic. Thread moved in hopes you get better responses...and please try to post these in the proper section so we don't have to move them...thanks.
Now.. Sub thumps are a good idea. If you look in your regional for sale section, you might find one...or in the all around members section. You can also call him direct. If you choose against all those options, you can go with a TON of choices from local audio shops. I personally chose JL since they are GREAT speakers and they last forever....that, along with a JL amp. I had a JL 250x1 amp which did great in powering a JL 10" W3V2 and a 12" W3V3. It powered both of them, but I upgraded to a JL 600x1. The 250 is now for sale...$150... Remember, you'll need a sub... an enclosure...an amp to power it...and a harness to wire it in with the stock stereo (and a bass knob if you really want to have super control over the sub). Hope that helps. ;) |
I like the JL Audio 12 W7. It's a bit expensive, but it KILLZ!!!

A lot of people have different opinions on what they think are the best. If I was going to buy a sub, there are a few brands that I like and would probably stick with - Anything by these popular companies you will be happy with and are my favorites of the ones that I have heard in my travels (in no particular order):
MTX Kicker Rockford Fostgate JL Audio Cerwin Vega |
