bob lutz on 6th gen camaro

you cant tell it from the previous one."the same as before, only smaller" has never been a winning formula in a fashion-conscious segment.the current camaro, although fabulous, missed the mark.this from the new issue of R&T ,and not me striiring upo crap, although i agree its hard to tell them apart without looking twice.

I tried to trade in my wife for that. Didn't work for me though :sm0:

I think it's a sweet looking car that will smack around the majority of the competition. It has to maintain its identity...otherwise it fades into obscurity like so many others. Don't hear anyone bashing the Corvette for keeping its mundane styling....

i have to admit i was surprised to read that comment, but he does have a point.possibly this is why mustang has been outselling camaro? having driven the 6th gen i will say its a great driving car, should be doing better in the market place.

Easy to tell from the front & rear. I can spot a rare 6th gen in a heartbeat, when I find one.

The price is also a huge factor. Some people who could afford a new 5th gen in the past can no longer afford a new Camaro.

99.9% of the American driving public doesn't know--and doesn't care--what a "great driving car" is. Therefore, car builders must design to other influencers. The guys we love (like Oppenheiser) are truly dinosaurs destined for extinction. Can you imagine going to the GM board and betting your career on an argument that "we have to build the ZL1 1LE".

Maybe he's right, I read they're broke.

I have seen one 6th gen on the street and I live less than a mile from the Chevy. When the 5th gen hit they were everywhere.

Tesla started out broke, so that's nothing new. Looking for government financing since they started.

Yeah, I'm going to hire an electrician and pay the electric company to run new service to my house so I can charge an electric car that only works on local trips.

Want to go from Chicago to New York with one quick fuel stop? Take the dino fuel Camaro.

Even a Volt/Bolt is way overpriced for what you could save on fuel around town. A golf cart or electric wheelchair would be a better investment.

Ever watch Formula-E? The drivers switch cars halfway though a 45 minute race.

redcoats1976 07-02-2017 12:04 PM

i have seen a few.maybe they are selling better in florida?i admit that paying an extra 1600 bucks to get the v6 in 2016 was the reason i went with a preowned 2015.the fact that the passenger area is bigger factored in too.

Lutz is right. The 6th gen is meh in the design department.

The 5th gen is a retro design masterpiece. The 6th gen is watered down and it has awkward proportions at the C-pillar.

I'm just glad I was able to pick up a brand new 5th gen while they were still being made.
