What's wrong with the Armor-All Interior Wipes?

I use the wipes all the time for the scuff marks in my interior.
And I've had no problem. Been using it for months.

Why do people say Armor All is garbage and things like that?

Claims in the past were that those that used Armor All on their vinyl dash ,

and other vinyl panels would crack and break down eventually

I have used it myself back in the late 60s but not continiously so I did not

expierience the cracking.Mayby a few heavy users will chime in here.

Armor All use to use a strong silicone that would seep into the pores of plastic and cause it to crack prematurely. They have since changed the formula. Now it is just disliked because it leaves a greasy shiny look that not too many people enjoy.

I also don't like the look it leaves. It also seams to attract/hold more dust than the Meguiars natural shine I use.

Maybe dirt just shows up better do to its glossy finish.

It also leaves a film build up that collects dust and dirt.

:thumbdown:smells bad too!!

spyderbuddy 10-09-2011 07:43 PM

I use Orange clean. It works at getting the Dust off and does not leave a sheen.

Obzen 10-09-2011 08:03 PM

Because your dash isn't supposed to look like its got vaseline slathered all over it.

Andys562 10-09-2011 08:32 PM

But the whole "greasy look" dries off in like 10 minutes or so.
And I'm not using ir for dust removal; just for scuff marks on my dash.

Armor All is acceptable for 90% of the population. The other 10% wastes much of their time reading "Cosmetic Maintenance" forums. If you are here, that includes you. There's plenty of acceptable over the counter alternatives, including Meguiar's.

You don't need to spend $25 on leather and interior conditioner (even though I just did).

Look at this

ARMOR ALL NATURAL FINSH DETAILER PROTECTANT WIPES

Ok, I hate a well oiled dash and everything else. But, These have a matte finsh. Protect against UV rays, Won't dry out surface. I love these things and would never put anything on my 45th. SS If I thought it would mess it up. These wipes are somethimes hard to come by in stores. I would not use these all the time. Most times just a very soft brush for cleaning out tight areas, a damp micro fiber cloth (Water) lightly wiped off areas. Thats it. Check these out guys:w00t:

Meguiars Gold is pretty good.

eklypised 02-25-2012 08:53 AM

So what is a good wipe to use?

Nessal 02-25-2012 08:55 AM

Microfiber and soap works just fine. I don't see the need for any of this stuff.

OH BOy:readthethread: These are wipes I'm speaking of

I use Adams detail spray for my interior. Works great and smells nice too.

CamaroDreams07 02-25-2012 11:59 AM

As long as it's got a UV protectant in it and it dries to the level of gloss you like, go for it.

Personally, my choice is Werkstat Satin Prot. Not a wipe, but just as easy.

midnighter 02-25-2012 12:05 PM

I don't care for Armor All because it hazes up my inner windshield. Dust magnet too.
