Hi everyone, my name is Josh. I thought I'd stop lurking and introduce myself. I've been reading the forums for a while, mostly doing research on the various things the "brochure" doesn't tell you.

Tomorrow I'm going to the dealer to likely pick up a 1LE after having test driven quite a few of them. I've looked at the standard SS and also the ZL1, but the 1LE seems to appeal to me the most due to the type of driving I prefer. I've always been one for handling over straight out raw acceleration, and the 1LE seems to give a great balance of both for a really good price.

This will be my first American, RWD, muscle car so it's quite the change. My prior performance vehicles were AWD rally designs - an EVO IX GSR, a pair of modified WRXs, etc. I'm trading in my commuter (Lexus IS-350 AWD F-Sport) as I seldom drive it since moving to Colorado and having the advantage of working from home. I have a new Jeep Overland Hemi for snow so I no longer have the concern of "needing" AWD. The Lexus is nice but I only bought it for my formerly ridiculous commute. I prefer a "driver's car" anyway and could really care less about having the most buttons and toys inside. My EVO was very spartan and yet I enjoyed it the most out of any of my other cars.

I like to autocross and finally have several tracks within reasonable driving distance. While the ZL1 was absolutely a blast, the 1LE just seemed so much more efficient in several respects and more practical. I figure if I really need the added HP later I can always bolt on some power when ready. In the short term I have nothing but minor cosmetic plans as I acclimate to the new car. First things first - I have to get it! Hopefully negotiations go well tomorrow and I'll be able to post a pic of a pretty new 1LE.

Welcome to the site and hope it goes well tomorrow. I'm sure you will enjoy the car!

Thanks guys! I'll definitely post up some pics shortly after I sign papers.

Scott, I had a black one picked out, but it vanished before I was ready to make a move. The dealer has another, but not configured the way I wanted. I'm going for black, grey, silver, or white in that preference order - which they had none of. Their partner dealer across town has a few that might fit the bill.

Good news is it looks like my insurance will actually go down about $20 a month if I trade the Lexus. These little details certainly make the "CFO" happy.

Hopefully all works out for you and you'll be a new 1LE owner in no time! I'm a new 1LE owner myself and bought the car with autocross in mind. I've been reaching out to other, local 1LE owners here in NJ on this forum that have been racing and they have provided me with a wealth of great information. I suggest you do the same as their experience specifically in the 1LE may help you get the most out of the car.

I bought my car a little over a month ago but with the Northeast and NJ inparticular having one of the worst winters in memory, I basically drove it home from the dealer and it's been sitting in my garage ever since. I look forward to warmer days and some time with my new baby!

Keep us posted on your progress and post pics when you can!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!

allsteelers - I know what you mean about the winter. Terrible for so many states this year. We finally warmed up this week. I haven't seen the ground in my back yard in a few months now due to "perma-snow" lol.

My last test drive a week ago I watched the sales rep spend 20 mins with a tech trying to break up <1" of ice/snowpack around their only 1LE on the lot to get it out (was parked nose down on a down slope amongst a pack of other cars on the lot). As I was already anticipating these cars definitely cannot grip in the cold, ice, or snow. I've been talking with the "CFO" about letting me get a beater SUV for those not so camaro-friendly days so I don't have to swipe the Overland from her.

h018871 - You know, the more I look at it, there really isn't a bad color for these. They all work.
