IOM Black Diamond Build Journal [COTW 1/21/13]
 

I really like reading about everyones builds, so it is time to start one. I have already done some mods but it is better late then never. I am bad about remembering to take pics as I am doing the work. I will try to get better at it. I really like to do all of the work myself. I have put a lot of thought into everything I have done so far. I want the car to look like it was planned out start to finish. I really wanted to bring some old into the new. Like the 69' shift knob, and the old SS emblem, the hash marks from the Trans AM series and the tail lights black out. My wife and two kids and I really like to take the car to shows and talk to people about it. Now a little about my car.

I got a new SS emblem and V2 22" RBG scanner for Xmas. Last night I got board so I decided to install them last night. It was late & cold but I couldn't wait any longer. I was able to slip my hand down behide the grille and put the SS emblem on. I looked at it a couple of times to mahe sure I got it in the middle slot. Well I should of looked at it three times because I got to install it twice it was wrong. It took me a lot longer then I thought it was going to for the scanner. I took my die grinder and ground down the back side of the bumper. That way it was easier to cut with the exacto knife. Make sure and use lots of tape to cover everything around where you are working. It is very easy to slip and sratch something. The 3m tape didn't stick very well, I think it was to cold so I will have to fix that.

Dirt...I love your car. It looks great just how it sets...I really like the exhaust tips. The Hurst is cool as well. Wheels are sweet....Nicely done....:chevy:

Im supposed to be getting the GFX kit from another member but I planned on getting the ZL1 front end, not sure if they would clash or not. Think I have a solution for that though so stay tuned.....well tune back in a few monthes because it will happen in spring haha

I just got a set of orange anodized aluminum panels for the bottom of the door panels. I will be installing those very soon. I am waiting for a friend to get his paint booth done. Then I am going to be doing some painting :D. At the same time I have a street scene front splitter to paint and install. I can't really do to much right because my garage is full. Did you get a chance to look at your glove box to see if the cable is attached still?

I checked the cable and it is fine. The latch on that side doesn't fit tight. I tried to adjust so it would hold the glove box tighter. I will see if that helps.

It wasn't raining for once so I washed my baby today. She looks so much better clean:thumbup:

I bought some door panel inserts from billet custom's & I put them in today. They said to put them on with silicone. I didn't want to use silicone so I used double sided tape. I wiped them down with wax & grease remover before I put the tape on. Then I heated them up with a heat gun so they would stick better. I think they look good on there.
