I do have news from the GM side. The paperwork we have been exchanging is now complete. I have asked for a date I can make the announcement so I hope to do so here in a matter of days.

LMAO!!!

oh gees my poor car... I still have all my projects in my garage stacked up...

I did finally repaint my front Fascia...

had some curb rash and the front got clipped by the garage door... grrr totally my fault... getting pics to upload now. we were gonna just patch and blend it but we decided to just sand and repaint the whole front fascia.

It has a couple small runs as we laid the clear on kinda thick. wet sanded and hit it with a rotary buffer.

this weekend I'm going put the porter cable on it to get the holograms out from the body shop.

:D

Pics coming.

PQ 10-03-2011 11:47 AM

You got a Porter Cable finally? :bellyroll:

What did it cost to get it painted? I'd like to do mine if the price is right.

:D

Yeah I found this sucker who let me borrow his... ;)

I got hookups... I paid my friend 200 and bought his family dinner. :D Probably would have paid 400+ to have the dealer completely repaint the front fascia.... Maybe more....

:D

Merc 10-03-2011 11:54 AM

I have a Portercable too and all the fixing's from Adam's, just scared to use on Pumpkin. Hopefully I'll muster enough courage to use it during this years hibernation.

GTAHVIT 10-03-2011 12:05 PM

well, I'm about to use one for the first time... :D wish me luck!!!

I've been watching the vids from adams site, but yeah, Junkmans are awesome also.

Here are some pics of the new front fascia.
:D

GTAHVIT 10-03-2011 01:33 PM

sorry for the crappy phone pics.

Merc 10-03-2011 01:37 PM

Just wondering if your painter used the flexible clear coat or standard?

GTAHVIT 10-03-2011 01:39 PM

Pretty sure it was flex. same stuff the dealer uses.

speedster 10-03-2011 01:43 PM

Lookin' good.

Why thank you, Sir! :)

I was only allowed to do the prep work. I ruined a small batch of body filler... damn hardener works too quick for me.... I didn't take pics of the primer or the wet sand and buff we did yesterday. There are a couple small runs in the clear that we are going to get taken care of next weekend. Once I get it all polished and waxed should be better than factory.

:D

Merc 10-03-2011 02:08 PM

Cool! I was disciussing that subject with my painter just recently and He claims most body shops don't after an accident repair. Years later you find out when the clear spider webs.

Darth_Emma 10-03-2011 02:25 PM

Purdy! That should be good for at least 10 rwhp.

My whole damn car needs painting. Road chips here in Lower Bama really suck.

Chris,

The warmer the ambient temperature the less hardener you need. I clearly rember telling your about this before you did the work :sm0:

No one will notice as you fly around the cones or down the strip. :D

garcmol 10-03-2011 08:05 PM

Chris, You can polish all you want, but DON'T wax it yet. Ask your painter how long to wait. Unless it's baked, it ain't cured yet. That can take 30 to 90 days! You wax it and the paint can't gas off and it'll bubble.

With Adam's it contains silicone. You can polish with it but I recommend you use a 50/50 isopropyl alcohol/distilled water mix to get the polish off completely when done.

New paint I like Megs 105 and 205 and it's paint shop friendly. No silicone! Once it's cured the Adam's line is perfect

yep, made a thread for the adams guys to chime in on. they all said the same thing. Let it cure for at least a week before polishing and stay away from the wax.

Thanks for the heads up Norm :D

I posted a few in the wheel section jut a little bit ago. Haven't had the chance to take many because I was on the road most of the weekend and it was raining today.

I Porter Cable is EASY to use. It won't hurt your paint because it's a random orbital polisher. I have one and use it on my car.
