Help a newb

Hi all,
My first post. I have read/learned a lot already here. I ran into a problem recently, and need help as to what to do next. I encountered a gas leak at the fuel rail nipple where you check the pressure. Anyway, I ordered a n
ew one of JEGS fuel rails. Installed. Turned the key on to check for leaks. Then fired it up. Well, it ran for maybe 20 seconds, 10 of which sounded like a wrench in the crankcase. Hmmm. Decided to fire it up again to maybe pinpoint (dumb mistake on my part). Ran for another 5 seconds, sounding the same, then died. It completely froze the engine. Long story short. Pulled the heads and found a rod smashed the piston. Obviously vapor lock.
So now I have a nice Camaro SS with a bricked engine. I still owe $8,000 on the dang thing.
First question....
1. How much is a 2010 SS/RS worth with a bricked engine and 36,xxx miles?
2. Should I sell in current condition and start fresh? Or
3. Buy a new engine and keep her? This will be atleast $10,000 for a new stroker block. :)
I know it's a lot to take in. I need financial guidance in this situation...
Thanks

Damn! Hard luck there, man! I would be so heartbroken...if it were mine, I would HAVE to repair/ replace the engine. I have so completely melded with my car. There are, of course, several ways to go here: reman engine, new engine, used engine. I'd price my options, if I were you; taking in consideration warranty coverage for each option

I am. I really am. Still a little in shock over the whole thing. But it is what it is.

Leaning to a Livernois 419, or a new car still...…...

Vapor lock would do that?? Never heard of that one. I would try to get it fixed but that would be me. You have low miles. You could try to sell as is for what you owe then get you a newer one.

Sorry to hear about this. I feel sick for you. I would probably cry for a day or two if it happen to my baby.

Good luck on what ever you do.

Sorry to hear about your issue. There is a guy selling a motor/trans out of an ss here in San Antonio for 5k. might be able to resale the trans and recoup some money. Just an idea, good luck.

Could also get an assembled short block from TSP for around that same price 4-6k and just move your stuff over to it and be done with it. I'd give TSP a call and see what package they can do best for what your looking to do with the car and go from there. Stroker would be my choice as I plan to be buried in my car eventually.

Yeah. Going back to stock just isn't going to happen at this point. If I have to dump money at it, it will be stroked. Thanks for the replies
