LLT oil cooling??

what are our options?

Im thinking of getting a new oil filter adaptor http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=...ed=0CFIQrQMwEw

and then pluming in a universal oil cooler kit like this one http://www.amazon.com/Godspeed-Unive...im_sbs_auto_18

what has been done? what works? do yall think this is a good idea? if nothing else Ill have some nice AN fittings and bradded hoses in my engine compartment. lol

I've been thinking about the same thing... but I've got several other things I need to do first. If you do this let us know how it goes.

You would need a custom sandwich plate made as there is very little room between the block and air con pump. there is also incorporating the oil preasure gage at the filter - but feasible.

Nice set-up. Be sure to check, but I thought our V6 already has a trans cooler built into the radiator. I will have to look that up again.

hey man, that looks great how did you run the lines?

GretchenGotGrowl 04-05-2013 07:50 PM

Are you guys seeing high oil temperatures?

Can't_C_Me 04-05-2013 08:06 PM

If your running synthetic your good for up to the 300's in temps. But don't get fooled by the hype, these modern engines run best with the oil temps being high. Trans oil is a different sorry. I have never seen no more than 30* difference between my coolant and oil temps. And this is with turbo's in the Atlanta heat and dyno run with heat soak.

blackTT600 04-06-2013 08:29 AM

I was at an auto cross and my oil temp was close to 260-270 I'm not ok with that. It was way on the high side of my gauge, not quite on the red but way high none the less. I'm in south east FL and its really hot already so yeah I do think this is necessary. Especially if I plan to do more events, which of course I will.

stand-al0ne 04-08-2013 08:43 AM

I was thinking about getting one too since I plan to start auto-x'ing, but the runs are typically short enough to not worry about oil temps becoming a problem.

Either way I'd be curious to see what you come up with and what your findings are.

Please keep us updated!!

brought back from page 7... MARINE1991 you have a picture of the lines run, and installed? did you relocate the oil filter? where did you plum it to?
