Power-to-weight favors the '69 Sunoco Special.

EVERYTHING else, especially including TIRES, favors the '14...

Speaking of weight, don't forget the acid dipping done to the Trans Am Camaro. ;)

I found a dyno of a 70 boss mustang and it was 455 to the tire. Pretty decent. Also I found an in car 70 boss race car at laguna seca and I was trying to sync it with a video of new boss mustang laguna seca and that seemed pretty similar. The z would walk that car for sure.

A little Googling provided a point of reference. Mark Donahue's fastest lap in winning the 1968 Trans Am race at Mid Ohio was 1:43.7. I have a LOT of experience at Mid Ohio and I can guarantee that the 2014 Z/28 will lap faster than that right out of the box.

What's the avg or best lap time of a modern street car at that track now?

My best lap on the same track configuration in my 1994 stock class race car with 215 rwhp and 14 lbs/hp is 1:42 flat. And I'm not as good as Mark Donohue.

I have no doubt that I could handily beat my race car's times in a 2014 Z/28.

Yes.

Does the '69 get to run on Trofeos?

fielderLS3 04-12-2013 10:44 PM

The new Z/28 would win, and by a large margin.

So I'm continuing to answer my own question. The video of laguna seca on old bass I timed at 1.46 and the laguna seca new boss was 1.40. Got to say the in camera of the old car looks like a blast. Check these out

Just to be sure I know the answer is new z but maybe SS could hang also?

I believe it would if it was on race tires.
