Jack lift points

Where are GM's recommended jack lift points along the frame rails?

If I'm usng a floor jack, I try to lift at the suspension connection joints. I assume these areas are used to a lot of stress...

there are two points on either side of the car, one for each wheel. check page 9-79 of your owners manual.

Anyone have an actual picture, not drawing of what the "indicated mark" looks like? I couldn't see it the other day when I had mine on the ramp changing my oil.

Thanks

there should be a notch in the frame rail where the jack will "lock in"

Xmicro_SS 08-08-2009 09:31 PM

Yea, these points will work with a scissor Jack, but NOT with a floor jack, my rail started to kink, so I backed down quickly.

Does anyone know where to put the floor jack pad???

what about the jack stands

Lets say you get it jacked up, now where do you place the jack stands? The manual says to use them just not where to put them. I just got the car and haven't gotten under it yet.

crossmember or under the ball-joints or the pinch welds where they say you can lift from(you just have to lift from somewhere else then )

Yea! This is a major problem of mine also when I get under mu SS a floor jack point doesn't jump out nothing looks strong enough to support the weight. I know there is a member a hell of a lot smarter than me that knows the answer!

I am still waiting for someone to chime in with some wisdom and maybe a picture. I hate lifting from the diff.

Doing my oil change tomorrow. I'll be using a floor jack and jack stands. If no one chimes in by then, I'll be sure to post up pics of whatever I find.

Any other Camaro specific oil change tips?

Jack up the passenger side of the car. The oil will come out much easier (at least on the SS).
