Warping rotors constantly
 

Hey guys, I have a 2010 ss that I daily in the mountains. I drive pretty hard but nothing to crazy. I’ve had a problem warping rotors for a while and I’m curious if anyone has a solution.
The factory ones were done at 40k, replaced with oe. The second set lasted maybe 20k. I have r1 conceptz slotted rotor and pad now and they warped quickly after.
I don’t ride the brakes, I engine brake constantly trying to avoid replacing rotors so often. I’ve read solid rotors probably would have been better for street driving but before I buy another set I wanted to ask everyone’s opinion.

I upgraded mine to CTSV/ZL1 calipers and rotors. These are heavy cars and I could tell that going fast downhill tight twisty roads was about more than the stock brakes wanted.

Rotors rarely warp, almost never. The pads are overheating and melting onto the rotor. Put better pads on the car.

If you want good pads(not cheap pads) I can help you with that. You also need to burnish in new pads, every time they are replaced.

I’ve read up on the pads melting to the rotors before. Because of that I normally slow down by downshifting. There are a lot of steep inclines where I live and sitting at lights or anything after any harsh braking I try not to hold the brakes hard while stopped and use the parking brake.
I forgot to mention I changed out the rk pads right away because they were unbearably noisy even after break in. I have ebc yellows now. Idk if those are considered good or not but I never had a problem with them on other cars. Every set of pads I’ve had I’ve bedded to ebc’s instructions. And when they started having problems tried bedding again.
What would you suggest for a better pad?

Three things that have ruined my rotors.

1. Getting them wet immediately after driving hard. Think washing your car.
2. Not torquing aluminum wheels...yes with a torque wrench to spec.
3. And I know I'm gonna get grief for this, but ceramic pads are hard on rotors. I never got much life out of my rotors. Loved the dust free brakes tho.

I recommend Carbotech AX6 pads for you, it will end your issues. Just make sure you bed them in

Sorry for lacking on responses. Works been crazy busy.
I’ll try the carbotech pads and see how it goes. I’ve never heard of them. I’ll see if I can find someone to either turn my slotted rotors or at least check the runout.
For me mainly driving this on the street, granted I live in the mountains and have a decent amount of high speed runs. Would you guys suggest staying with solid rotors next time around?

Don’t think slotted should be avoided look at the Gen6 cars and C7 Vettes they all have slotted rotors.

None of the Gen6 Camaro have slotted rotors.
