Nissan 370Z VS Camaro

The Nissan 370 is coming out, and it looks like it could be a big competitor to the Camaro LT and even the SS.

http://www.nissanusa.com/370z/?intcm...Home.P3#/home/

Sub 30k, Lighter, 330HP, Really nice interior with proper nav and everything available.

Nissan is going for the young crowd in the 20-30 age group.... Bang for the buck looks good, and its highly likely the engine is underrated.

I personally dont care for the body.. the front end looks like crap. I think the Camaro is an amazing looker.

What do you guys think?

The style of the car is different than normal... I can appreciate that. I'm not sure I like the looks though. The front is eehhhhh...

Its alright, but just like the Camaro, Nissans like this have tight followers. It will sell really well.

I like the front-end, better than the 350z's... I just don't like the headlights... I wonder what times we'll see from it....

i like the design inside and out.

the only problem im having with it is they still didnt give the car any torque.

STARTING price is less than $30k, but fully loaded its the same price as a 2SS... which, IMO, means that it might be quick and nimble, but its going to have a hard time outrunning a well driven 1SS/RS with six speed manual.

Nissan Z-cars are like Supras: all the horsepower in the world and they're still only 12second cars... lol

The Z34 weighs a hell of a lot less than any SS Camaro. Combined with a more than adequately powerful engine for its size and weight there's more than a good chance it'll put a good fight. Don't even think about what tuners and people will be getting in power gains with aftermarket add/bolt-ons. This car is going to be stupid fast, even if it just has a "lowly" V6.

How would you know when the cars aren't even in the hands of tuners yet????????????????????????????? I love this "got it figured all out already" when there's no real facts to support the argument.

I would be shocked if 'drag' was up there with porsche and bmw as goals for the new Z.

Of course it was. There are pics of 370 mules testing alongside Caymans and Z4's on the Nurbrigring that Nissan bought along for comparison and development. They benchmarked this car against the absolute best the industry has to offer in terms of competition, just like they did with the R35 GTR.

I think because of its weight and design itll hold its own against an SS...just my opinion maybe not win but itll keep up

SoFlaZ 11-22-2008 10:23 PM

It'll be a good match up but I know which will win. I really like the 370z, if for whatever reason I couldn't get a Camaro, it would be one of my first alternate choices.

...And it has 2 seats. Need 4, sorry about your luck 370Z.

The 5thgens rear seats are just as useless as having none... save if you have two small kids. Then it makes sense.

What i was saying was that i didnt think that DRAG RACING was important to them enough to put that up next to Porsche and BMW on their wall of 'targets'

you and i are on the same page :D
