Yes. It's the same mirror I used and you can use any camera. You can find both on Ebay for cheap.

No, its not the same mirror and the wiring has changed.

New mirror is a Gentex 893 mirror it comes with the mate to the car factory connector, but it only has 9 wires and on the 2010-2011 we have 9 wires with out the video, so that means 2 wires are no longer there for ? see its not the same, more to come ones i get my hands on a 2012.

My bad, I didn't know they changed the wiring. Good thing you chimed in.

Really Nice job on the detailed pic and description. I'm wrestling with the same project to wire in a Valentine 1 in the wife's car. Getting to the visor area seems tricky, as it is she bugs about everything, she treats it like its NOT a sports car. Arrrggg!

Great updates too, thanks again!

I just hard wired my phone's navigation dock to my rearview mirror area a couple months ago.

Thanks for the link, looks nice and clean. I'll keep it in mind. If you are familiar with a V1, I'm going to to do a fused hard link under the dash and run the power up the support column. Reason is V1 makes a discrete display you can mount in the dash area for cabin only viewing. This keeps tailgaters from trailing behind using YOUR detector. I have one in my car and love the stealth part of it, works great, but you have to run one to the display and another to the unit from the link - no biggie but can't use just the wire off the mirror area. I had 2 Escort models for years and when I switched, have never looked back, there is a HUGE difference in the 2. V1 really knows what they are doing!
Thanks again, great pics.

has anyone repriced this since they are out now?

My understanding is that the '11 vert is wired for the rear camera and should have the same connections as the '12. I could be (and most likely am) dead wrong on this. I'm waiting for the dealer to let me know when I can have the factory camera system installed on my car, though I'm not sure if that'll gain me much over a DIY system. I just know that anything that helps me avoid a ding is a welcome addition.

What do you want an update on? The mirror I used is the same one they use on Camaros. They just pulled it out of the GM parts bin.

Sux,
Im looking to do this, but I have absolutely no interest in pulling out the interior...did you consider running the cable under the car instead? I think I could run it fairly inconspicuously under neath....
