S mode tuned into 2LS by GM?
As the title says do yall think it is possible for me to take my car to the dealer and have them put the stock tune from say a 2LT so that I have S mode? I want this so that when I tune my car for my supercharger I can have them aggresively tune S mode and leave D mode a little less aggressive. I am not very good with tuning things so I am not sure this will even work.

We don't have S mode?

usnatclee 07-14-2012 11:20 AM

The 2012 2LS doesn't. For some reason they took it out. That is why I think that it could be tuned back in. All it would take is the stock tune from a 2LT....I think.

lscamaro 07-14-2012 12:42 PM

Nope, they won't do it.

usnatclee 07-14-2012 12:45 PM

Yeah I called today and both places I called told me that I would have to get approval from the service manager to have it done and would have to get approval from GM regional after that to have it maintain under warranty. I think I am going to pursue it. I see not reason why it would hurt anything. I mean if they did it for the 2010 and 2011 and they have it on every other model of 2012 why can't they do it for mine? Ill let you know what I find out.

The reason it doesn't have it is for them to be able to achieve the mpg that they advertise. Same reason you don't have the gear ratio a 1lt has. You could probably get it done but under warranty who knows. Good luck though

Right but what they should have done is the MPG tune into the "D" and then havbe an "S" mode. I just dont understand why they did that.

I don't think its possible to program d and s independently of each other for a lot of things. I could be wrong but that could be it

Mr_Draco 07-16-2012 08:22 AM

If I'm not mistaken the LS tranny has different gearing ratios compared to the LT which is why it doesn't have it.

usnatclee 07-16-2012 10:14 AM

No the only difference is the gears in the differential are 2.92 instead of 3.23.

usnatclee 07-16-2012 10:16 AM

I will probably just wait until I get my new gears and then get the Trans and engine tuned. Then retune it for my supercharger. I was mostly just curious if it was possible.

I have a 2011 2LT and it can be tuned for each mode. I have D set a little bit more aggressive than stock and S mode tuned to be a True Sport mode. From what I was told before the tune is each mode uses its own tables.

lscamaro 07-16-2012 12:54 PM

Yes, what your speaking about is shift firmness and torque management which can be tuned independently of mode. But the op is suggesting that gm should have put an mpg tune into d and a sport mode in s. That can't be done. The tune applies to both modes and you can't have one tune for d and another for s. I've asked Vince about it already and he said he couldn't do it because the code didn't allow for it. This might have changed since I asked but that's what he responded to me

Higgs Boson 07-16-2012 01:19 PM

The only thing that changes between modes is shift points (MPH/RPM) and shift pressure.

Torque management, engine criteria (AF ratios, timing, etc) are all the same. OP, you are totally wasting your time (and money?) by doing this, also, they may not even be able to do it, they are different operating systems and they are actually totally different ECUs. 10-11 have Bosch ECUs while the 12's do not. Totally different code, OS, etc.
