Finding The Perfect ZL1

Called around this weekend to local dealers after being approved for a loan from the bank and none had what I wanted. 2013 or 2014 sw manual zl1. One dealership called around and said he had one out of state. A 2014 for 56.2k that would have to be shipped and of course that would be extra.

He told me he'd put me on a list and call if anything popped up.

My question though, do you guys just leave it to the dealers or do you find every dealer in the radius you are willing to drive to and personally call each one? I'm not sure how dealers work at finding cars and getting them to their location since most aren't connected and they are all pretty much their own business.

Get a hold of Becky here on the forums. Many have bought from her and her reviews are outstanding.

BeckyD@Rodgerschevrolet is her user name.

Here is a recent review.

I would call each one. A commute that could save you money is worth it. Personally I order cars with the options I want. The fleet manager of the dealership is who you want to speak to. If you can't find one locally try putting an order in. As for price the credit union discount always helps.

That is a killer price. Coming off of owning a black car I could never own one again though xD. I wonder if that one comes with all the stock parts also though hmmm.

For the money you save, you can paint this whole car any color you want lol ya I know the feeling I have a black car and live in a desert area haha. Well there's always that 20% off at some Chevy dealers... Good luck

Autotrader.com

Cars.com

Craigslist.com

They are out there. You really just need to keep looking. It will pop up.

Here is a quick search I just did on autotrader...

http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-s...es=COUPE&Log=0

You really need to have your wish list ready:

2013-2014 ZL1
New or Used
S. White
Manual
What mileage are you comfortable with. (I topped out at 10k...anything over that forget it)

The ZL1 comes fully loaded but there are a few options

Micro Fiber steering wheel & shifter?
Exposed CF Hood Scoop?
NAV
Rim color and finish? (I personally love the black 5 spoke rims)
Sunroof? (If you plan on wearing a helmet skip this if your 5'10"+)

That's about it.

Good luck! :)

OP - this is great advice. Search, your car is definitely out there just waiting for you.

Good luck!

I bought out of state when prices were low last March. Searched using Autotrader and then negotiate directly with the dealer and even got the GM 0% financing. I then had Reliable Carriers pick it up and bring it to me to avoid driving before Xpell was installed. Reliable inspected the car prior to loading so it was a certainty there was no damage.

Awesome. Thank you for all the good advice. I know of auto trader its an awesome tool! No idea how to go about buying out of state though never done it though inspection wise or what not.

Find a car listing on Autotrader and then go to the dealers web sight to get contact info. You already know 20% off MSRP so offer a little below that over the phone. Once I a had a deal, I had them text a photo of the mileage and I put a deposit with a charge card. They FedEx the purchase and finance contracts and I FedEx them back signed.

You won't pay sales tax if out of state but they may make you pay an out of state registration for temporary tags. Only a few bucks. You take a copy of the purchase contract to your local DMV and pay the tax and tags there.

Good luck! It really was pretty easy
