For Parkinson's Disease - Back to the Future shoes - 150 shoes/day till 18th

OK, this is for an excellent cause...Parkinson's.

I'm considering bidding in the auction, both for the shoes and for the cause. I'm hoping some of you might also be in a position to do this. They are auctioning 150 of the shoes a day until the 18th.

Here's a link to the auction, where you can bid (or see the current bids)

Damn...those auctions are all $2k+. Nothing that I can afford unfortunately. I could maybe even swing 100 (never spent over $45 for shoes unless they were dress shoes) but too rich for my blood.

Poor Mike Fox isn't doing so well these days.

Well gotta do the math, real Nikes shoes cost like $3 to make and they sell for $75-$100

Those probably cost $50-$75 to make, so $2000 is about right.

Now if they were auctioning that Delorean

:sm0:

Good Lord...if they were $100, I was contemplating buying a pair...of which I'd probably never wear. But, for the cause, right? Then I open the page. $2,000 to bid?!?! HOLY COW!!!

Cost isn't really the issue here. Most people would be doing this to donate to a worthy charity. I was seeing some bids in the 17k range 2 days ago.

You can get the DMC-12 for less than you think.

But its not based on reality, its not an auction for the common working man, its a rich boys auction for charity.

If they can't have a few item real people could afford to help..........

seems like a waste or lost money for the charity. They don't want $100 bills that reg folks can spare, they want $10,000+ checks.

Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion...

Who knows...maybe later on, they'll mass produce the shoes in a larger run and sell them for 300-400 bucks apiece.

I don't care what anyone says. Those are awesome. Tuck your acid wash levi's into the shoe and off you go.

Sad part is there will never cure it, only find drugs to supress or control it that you must take forever at a big price.

Finding cures aren't profitable. Why polio was the last dieses ever cured.
[Big pharms are still kicking them selfs over that mistake.]
