5th Gear = Poor man's top gear
This guy = Poor man's Jeremy Clarkson

mcdoogle6969 11-27-2010 10:13 PM

395hp for the camaro? 20 less hp then the dodge?? what? Is that guy on crack? lol Aren't they rated at the same? (426?)

2010 SSRS 11-27-2010 10:32 PM

GT5 has nothing on this game, lol

SSOOCH 11-27-2010 11:12 PM

What I love about this video. No matter what He says negatively about either of these cars, you couldn't slap the shit eating grin off of His face!!

Boatman 11-27-2010 11:23 PM

Thanks for posting that, I had not seen that one.

TripleB 11-27-2010 11:26 PM

Looks like he doesn't know how to drive or like he has never driven on the that track before haha!

ORANGA2D 11-27-2010 11:33 PM

Its ok the Brits will never like our cars no matter how good they get... They still have a chip on their shoulders about losing us silly colonists. And maybe the Camaro is sold in the UK with less HP? At any rate thanks for making me laugh.

What ??, that line with the Camaro at the finish was spot on...

The LS3 is 426, while the 6.1L Hemi is 425. However, the L99 was originally rated at 395 hp so that may be where they got the 395 from.

mikeSS 11-28-2010 01:16 AM

like i have always said the camaro CAN NOT handle, but it was not made to handle, its made for the drag

RobRiot88 11-28-2010 01:19 AM

it can handle better than that dodge for sure

Entaille 11-28-2010 01:38 AM

it can handle though, about as well as a near 4000 lb car can handle. it's skid pad numbers are nothing to scoff at. it's not a 3000-3400 lb car that handles on rails, but it holds its own.

I'm guessing you haven't been to the strip yet....

The last place this car was made for is the dragstrip.

As an Hemi Orange lovin' owner of a Challenger SRT8...I couldn't agree more!

To admit, neither of the cars look comfy in the twisties. Fun, but not exactly smooth. I bought mine for the looks (first and foremost) and then once I drove one I had that same kind of shit eating grin!

Also, the tail pipes on the Challenger are not stock.

oop, wrong forum for me...later.:confused0068:

LOL. Tiff Needell is one of the great drivers.

The fact remains that the Camaro SS understeers and the '10 Chally handles like patio furniture.

:word:

Saying Tiff Needell Can't drive is straight up blasphemy!
For the record, Clarkson (top gear) can't hold Vicki's (fifth gear) bra nevermind Tiff's jock strap!

Yeah weight is definately an issue here, but there are heavier cars that can easily outhandle ours, so we shouldn't get too caught up in that

You make the car go where you want it. Just depends on how you set it up. I seen a dodge omni run a 11 sec run at the strip and im sure that car was never meant for the strip.

There is something to be said about having a "sleeper" car.

Let's face it. Most people look at a Camaro (or in my case Challenger) and see this bad ass machine that looks like it should kill other cars in a drag race or around the streets. But the problem is that the common person doesn't appreciate the weight factor nor the other suspension factors...let alone individual driving abilities of those that own them. And so, our cars can be a "let down" for some expecting more.

Fact is, we own awesome machines for the price points both on the street, and on the strip. We won't win awards for twisty road course track runs though. We simply aren't engineered/designed for it. Buy another car if that's where your enjoyment lies. I think that t.v. show has to keep coming up with ideas/topics and that head to head was just a fun demonstration/exhibition.

It's all relative.

But still, it couldn't hurt to want more ;)

Malan35 11-28-2010 10:16 AM

My dad used to own a 2009 6-Speed Challenger SRT-8. Ya the car was fast with a lot of torque, but the Camaro IS faster and handles much better.
Not to say the challenger wasn't BADA$$

camaro10 11-28-2010 12:42 PM

Doesn't he think both of these cars would go around the track better if IT WASN'T RAINING??!!:chevy:

GEEo 11-28-2010 12:49 PM

mycamaroisred 11-28-2010 12:53 PM

Its the automatic and probably the cars are rated slightly different in the UK.

Odd that they went with the L99 insterad of LS3. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

My Camaro handles pretty well... not many stock suspension parts left on it, though. My Challenger handles terrible... suspension is all stock.

Jay_LHD3 11-28-2010 02:01 PM

Thanks! Cool video!

Drago77 11-28-2010 02:04 PM

I haven't had the oppertunity to drive either yet, however I have ridden in both (saving my first drive for my own SS in a few months...) but I find it very hard to believe that bulky huge Dodge is only. 7 of a second behind the SS... I think a better driver may be in order... not buyin it!

Phantom.5SS 11-28-2010 02:19 PM

He's trying to drive it like a BMW or Bathhurst.

Drive it like a Camaro.......its not a bucking Bronco rodeo ride Dopey, its a kick your a$$ run with the bulls!!! I treat mine heavy handed and with brute force, not like a ballerina Tanner Faust racer on TV.
Seems to get around Watkins Glenn and Lime Rock just fine!!
