Wow. Only ~1,500 units? Looks promising though.

motorhead 10-25-2010 01:15 PM

Not to impressive only 470HP and only about 1,500 being built. Chrysler needs to wake up. This car will no way compete with a GT500. Hell, it might not even beat a camaro or a 2011 GT. Did they miss the memo that this is a 500hp or better class in this price range?

2010 SSRS 10-25-2010 01:42 PM

definitely looks awesome.

The base SRT8 is going to be CONSIDERABLY cheaper than the GT500. they will still build the regular 392 SRT8s too, it is only the 392 limited editions limited to 1492 (white with blue stripes and blue with whit stripes and special blue and white interior). 470/470 should be enough to put it 1/10th or 2 ahead of the SS and maybe even with the GT in the 1/4 mile. Remember too you get a lot more standard features in an SRT8 even compared with a loaded 2SS, so you are basically paying for the extra features, IE Uconnect hands free, uconnect touch screen, multigig harddrives, etc, etc. I think this car is going to be a big srprise once we start getting more info/times.Name me another new large coupe with 470 HP you can get for 43k.

I'm pretty sure that number is underrated as well.

None of that means anything to me without the power to back it up. GT500's are not as expensive as you guy's all think. I a have a buddy that bought a 2010 last year for 43,000 out the door now he's looking to trade for a 2011 and is paying $47,500. That's pretty darn close to an SRT8 challenger considering the far superior performance and build quality of the GT500.
The challenger is in my opinion the best looking of the three. I just wish they had the performance to complete the package. They could sell them for $50,000.00 or more if they would make them perform like the GT500.

Considering the Loaded 2SSes I see are 38k, Challenger 43k, and the GT500 for 11 around47k, that means the SRT splits the difference on price and power, nothing wrong with that IMHO, not to mention the SRTs standard features and that a loaded GT500 can come over 60k which is more like a good 10-12k MORE than a loaded SRT.

I'm curious to see what rpm they push the engine to with the cylinder de-activation system. Either way this is a great looking car and this should give it a nice boost in performance. Looking forward to seeing the numbers. I don't know if I missed it or not but the R/T could use a boost as well.

Now matter how you try to slice it ,they are still behind in the HP department.
I would pay 60 for one if it performed like the GT500.

SS 376 10-25-2010 09:36 PM

wonder how much these will go for? $55k?
