oil leak

Changed my oil this week and notice an oil leak, took it to my local dealer today and it's the rear main seal and the air conditioner is leaking , not happy. It goes in on the 18th to get fixed hopefully thats it..

This a common issue. There is a TSB on it. Had my rear main seal and pan gasket done last year.

just had mine done two weeks ago. Covered under warranty

so does a TSB mean they have to change it even if its not leaking?

No...

"A bulletin issued to an auto dealer by the manufacturer detailing a fix for a known concern. The bulletin is for informational purposes only. It is not a recall. The dealer is under no obligation to make the repair or notify customers. TSB's are intended to assist dealers in ongoing repairs."

Basically its ammo for you to get an issue taken care of...there is a TSB on paint chipping from the spoiler...I downloaded it and took it too the dealer with me when mine was having that problem...problem taken care of...

They are under no obligation to "fix" a none leaking seal...

i'm just happy thats it's covered under warranty, they did ask if i put an additive in with the oil just incase they have to drain the oil.

sigma_1966 04-10-2011 08:57 AM

Not sure what additive that is. They did add a dye to mine to determine if there was a leak.

The TSB is your friend, even though its supercharged, there is obviously a problem, print out the TSB and show them, Hopefully the dealer is fair and can determine its unrelated, then they should cover it under warranty.:drinking:

I think he may have been thinking something like lucas.

Where should I look under the car to see this? I noticed a small spot of oil on the floor under my car, after I backed it out from storage. This spot is maybe 1.5" in diameter.

where can one look up TSBs

is there a sight where TSBs can be viewed? quite honestly, my 2011 camaro experience included the rear main seal leak, tc hose leak and ps line leak. the latter two were no biggy, but the first one scared me.
