** Weird ticking in the rear **

I have a 2010 SS L99.... I have the weirdest ticking noise it's comin from sounds like inside of the driver side fender well... I was in drive the other day and heard it then on a separate occasion I was talking to a buddy of mine and the car was running and I was standing by the door ad there it was again... Anyone have this same issue....:iono:

I have a 2012 SS and I have a similar sound, more of a "clunking" than a ticking though and mine appears to be coming from the rear. But it also does it at idle shortly after startup every now and then. Almost sounds like an air pump or something, possibly fuel tank pressurizing to test fuel cap, I don't know. If you find a cause I'd be curious to know.

I always thought it was fuel pump or something to do with the crossover to the otherside of the saddle tank.

Maybe 5 even tick sounds and then it goes away - normal. Something to do with the evap maybe? I DO know it is supposed to do that. No issue.

It is the fuel pump. My ls3 does this occasionally too.

Mine doesn this only on start up.

i also have this issue... i researched in the different forums and talked to several service personnel from dealerships... they all said its the "fuel solenoid"... dont ask me what that is bcuz i have no clue... they also said its not a warranty issue... "its just the way it is.." i laughed, shrugged it off, told the dealer it was BS, and learned to live with it...

Yea this shit gets real annoying ya know.........i wonder if resetting the battery would do anything?

POWERFREAK 03-01-2012 04:16 PM

I don't think it's an "issue", it's just a normal noise from fuel pump (or something related)...get a louder exhaust or turn on your stereo..."issue" seems to go away.

yup fuel pump... it has a distinct sound, like 4-5 clunk sounds. i hate when mine does it cause then whoever is with me just looks at me like wtf is wrong with your car. and i have to explain. cant have people thinking my car is crap ha

Mik3_SS 03-01-2012 08:58 PM
