So That's What 25k+ HorsePower Looks Like w/Pics

IWANTONE2 and I had been talking about taking a nice cruise for a couple of months now. We tried to do it for SEMA but my car was unavailable at the time. So when we saw that Piccione Performance had posted about an Open House in December, we couldn't wait to take the drive out to Phoenix. I called our good friend Rick Andrade (shop manager) and told him to save me 2 parking spots. We left at 5pm on Friday getting ready to face the usual traffic (which we did, hahaha). But once we got passed the 10/215, it was smooth sailing after that (except for the pitstop to feed my Camaro and In-N-Out for us humans). We made it to Phoenix at 1am (12am PDT).
The day of the Open House started out with temperatures in the low 40's. Not too cold but not warm enough for us used to the SoCal weather. We made due with Beanies and Hoodies. IWANTONE2 and myself were one the first ones to arrive so we parked our cars and proceeded to wander around the shop and take pictures. Little by little cars starting driving in. We had everything from a 5th Gen V6 Camaro, to a CTS-V, to SuperCharged trucks, and a '69 Camaro with an LS7 swap. Cindy and David from Magnuson also made the drive out from California in their Magnuson Powered GMC truck to show support. I knew it was going to be a great day! The place is amazing! It has a huge Show Room that currently had 5 Corvettes. It has a Mustang 500 AWD Dyno with Version 2 software, 2 lifts, huge bay area with 3 sliding doors. This is all on one side. On the other side they have a Custom Paint and Body Shop with a state of the art over-sized Down Draft Paint Booth. The parking area is very impressive as well. Looking at some of the cars that were there, I was very impressed with how clean the Engine Bays were that Piccione had serviced. And I don't mean in the lack of dirt, but in how organized the wiring and the whole bay was. Show quality Engine Bays IMHO. Now is where the fun starts, time to get some cars on the Dyno! A total of 12 cars were Dynoed. The Fastest V6 Camaro pulled an impressive 446hp (and it sounded pretty good IMHO). We also had a couple of early Gen Camaros dyno. The '71 Hotchkis Camaro pulled out 382hp while the '69 Camaro with the LS7 swap pulled 543hp. The fastest Camaro for the day belonged to Dan Schneider and it pulled 719hp. Not bad for 72k miles. The runner-up belonged to Travis Maley. He has a 2014 1LE barely broken-in at just under 600 miles. He pulled 709! Look out Dan, Travis is getting close. He wants the crown next year. Hahaha. If my calculation is correct, there was over 25k Horsepower at the shop. Wow! While the Camaros were been Dynoed, we were being treated to delicious hot dogs and hamburgers. Thank you Tom and Piccione Performance for feeding us and for Robert D for being the Grillmaster for the day! If my count was correct, there was a total of 51 total cars show up. 44 of them were Camaros and we still had a few spots left. I don't know how many people were there but I would guess that it was over 80. Arizona All Gens Camaro Club was there and accounted for the majority of the cars. It was great to see them again. It had been way too long. All in all it wasn't a bad Cruise. I can't wait to see everyone again. Hopefully I'll be seeing them in June if not sooner! A big thank you again to Tom, Rick and the whole staff at Piccione Performance for their hospitality.:bow: And now for the pics ... It certainly was a great cruise out to Piccione Performance! I was very impressed with the shop and especially impressed with how professional the staff was and how courteous all of the Arizona Camaro owners were!
Piccione Performance is definitely the shop to go to if you are in the Phoenix area. Tribone, thank you for posting my pictures and for the cruise! Rick, it was a great pleasure to see you again! You have a great establishment there! |
Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Tons of nice rides! I can't wait for spring to roll around. You guys are spoiled with your weather. I gotta move out west.
|
I love the clean lines of the black 1LE. I hope to remove all my badges on my Camaro to get a similar look and feel. Nice pics, great cars even the Mustang was bad ass.
