pully boost

I have the new style slp tvs 2300 supercharger. how much more boost can I expect from dropping to a 3.4 or a 3.2 pully compared to the stock 3.6 pully that it has now and at what size will I have to change belt size? thanks.

This is a chart for the LSA motor so it won't be exact but it should give you some general ideas.

a good read for calculating boost after changing your pulleys

7.5/3.6= 2.08 (crank size/blower pulley size= current pulley ratio)

new pulley example 1: 7.5/3.4= 2.20 (crank size/new blower pulley size= new ratio)

New pulley example 2: 7.5/3.2= 2.34 (crank size/new blower pulley size= new ratio)

assuming you are at about 9 lbs of boost with the 3.6 pulley your new boost would be below

9/2.08x2.20= 9.51 lbs of boost with a 3.4 pulley

9/2.08x2.34= 10.125 lbs of boost with a 3.2 pulley

You can also get an overdriven crank pulley that would bring up your boost numbers. I have a ATI 7% OD crank pulley (8" crank pulley) but I think you can also get it in 10% OD (8.5" crank pulley). doing this changes your pulley ratio and will increase your boost level.

8/3.6=2.22 pulley ratio
9/2.08x2.22= 9.60 lbs of boost with 3.6 pulley

8/3.4=2.35 pulley ratio with 3.4 pulley
9.6/2.22x2.35= 10.16 lbs of boost with 3.4 pulley

8/3.2=2.5 pulley ratio
9.6/2.22x2.5= 10.8 lbs of boost with a 3.2 pulley

You are pretty safe up to about 13 lbs of boost on a stock bottom end with a good tune. My car has been at 13 lbs of boost for about 130k miles now. it currently has 160k miles on the stock bottom end

hope this helps

wow I didn't think the bottom end would hold up to that much. thanks for all the info.

No problem, good luck. I have a few friends running 13lbs of boost with meth and TVS 2300 making around 680-700 at the tires

I'm currently making 640 rwhp on my 1LE with an LSA @9.5 psi boost along with a stage 1 pd cam, and full intake/exhaust. Thats vs. 386 hp stock on the same dyno. I only have 65 lb injectors and they're about maxed for my hp level. I've been considering going from a 2.75 pulley to a 2.50 but I need new ID850's for that I think.

I still have 65lb injectors at 721 rwhp. Your injectors should be fine. What pump are you running and do you have BAP? I'll m running the ZL1 pump with ADM fpcm and msd BAP

I have the ZL1 pump as my car is a 1LE. I also have the adm fpcm but no BAP. When the car was on Janetty racing's dyno i think Ted had said I was at 87% duty cycle which he wasn't that comfortable with so he recommended ID850's. I didn't have the cash and said I'd hope I didn't have any fuel hiccups. He seemed to think I'd be good to about 700 rwhp with my 2.50 pulley and ID850's but after that I'd need a different pump setup. I've considered a BAP but I figured I should probably do ID850's first and only get a BAP if I was losing fuel pressure on the top end.

In addition I was checking out the Lingenfelter BAP and that one says it's good up to 750 (crank hp) on SC or turbo applications with the ZL1 pump which isnt much more than I am currently at. Not sure if the Lingenfelter one is the same as the MSD one.
