ZL1 LT4 Supercharger Lid SHOOTOUT comparison test
Came across this very interesting YouTube video this weekend showing a performance shop in Florida testing (4) different Supercharger Lids on a Dyno!

Watched the video and it was interesting. I have the WeaponX lid with an X-port by Kong and the 103 NW TB. I definitely have more whine than stock and to be expected. It will be interesting to see the next test on his car and results.

I saw it too, but I wish he shard the dyno graphs so we could see the whole picture.

My DSX lid whine's like a mo-fo ! Like it's crazy noticeable and when people are riding with me, they mention "that" noise! So I guess it's doing it's job!

Do they make one for the 2650 or just the stock blower?

Very cool test... Grateful he took the time to make it, and really appreciate the effort they take to create good content.
Like many, didnt expect any performance gains on a stock car, and still dont expect much on a modified car... but am alot more interested to see the back to back testing on a max effort style car. Looking forward to that one for sure. |
Neat video impartial and not at all surprised with the next to nothing gains. Pretty much like the CAI, noise and appearance is about it.

The gains were all within a dyno error % which is why I wished he showed the dyno graphs as well. Was the power difference a little "peak" somewhere or was the gains carried through the entire range?
My preference is DSX because of the visual and engraving options for customization. Other than that, I don't think it matters much at all which one you choose. |
The next test should be a good one, wherein airflow will really be tested.
LMP showed an A to B test if I recall, which was pretty surprising. RPM, for years, insisted there was no difference in the early LT4 to late LT4 lids, but I think Fran came around and discovered there was some improvement. I think he also implied, if not stated, aftermarket lids CAN make an improvement over the OEM lid. Cool testing. |
