Mobile 1 is fine, in fact a lot of people prefer it. The guy probably just wanted to sell you something else. I use Mobile 1 or Castrol Synthetic on my cars.

Well I mean some people run them for years without an issue, but some have the motor crap out in a few months. I've never run cutouts personally so I can't say whether they are good or not.
