Yes the 9" kit is the "Mack Daddy" of rears for the cars but if you are not going over say 900Hp i would say the ZL1 would be a good alternative using a After market axle and shaft with it of coarse.

Depending on Hp that ZL1 kit cant be beat, as long as gear ratios work out its a nice set up.
