I'm assuming the "drill" method resulted in ASR and TC lights, plus "Service Stabilitrak" message?

Make sure that when you test this, you apply significant brake-pressure when stopping on the hill. Otherwise the results may be skewed if you are merely overcoming the brake pressure, rather than HSA...

He meant backing up an incline in Reverse. HSA does activate in that situation. Changing the angle of the sensor would make your HSA activate while in Reverse, even on a flat surface.
