Check the fluid level switch with an ohm meter, it will either be closed or open. Then you need to figure out if it is a normally open or normally closed curcuit... You can also try poking/wiggling...

To be clear, I see no evidence of an "improper" tire install. That would rip the bead and have no effect on your wheel. The guide just fell off and the mechanic didn't have the balls to communicate...

In a car driven that little, I would worry more about fuel injector issues from old gas or water buildup in the oil than sludge... Also, your gas is probably going bad and losing a measurable amount...
