Mine is the same way. I'd say it's normal. Every manual I've ever had is harder to shift when very cold. Just be patient with it until it's warmed up.

Can say about the automatic... I have a manual; they are more fun to drive and usually more reliable. Try to find one with the quad tip, dual mode exhaust. They sound awesome.

I usually shift around 4000 rpm in regular driving and 6800 in aggressive driving. I cruise around town in 4th or 5th gear and only ever use 6th on the freeway or when holding a speed over 50 - 60 mph

Generally, I have a hard time talking w/ people if I'm doing over 50 mph. There's just too much road noise. If I'm tooling around town, it's fine. I'm sure it is affected by signal quality, as well.
