I did it myself, so only the cost of the unit. Around here a shop charges about $500 if you pull the diff out of the car.

I had a local drive shaft shop change both the support bearing and u-joint. They could not balance it, but it does not shake any more

For a street car, no drag radials, the Z28 axles are exceptional. This assumes you still have the SS differential.

I put the "resonated x-pipe" on a 13 with an LS. It was to get rid of the rasp at full throttle. I kept the factory dual mode mufflers. Long tubes with high flow cats. I have not experienced drone....

Parking Brake

Back in June the parking brake handle pulled up without any resistance, the cable had failed where it attached to the ball. This meant a new handle assy and a grommet (so no air/heat leak)....

Since the trans is tough to get into gear when you get a pop, I’d lean towards the trans mount/cross member area. Something is loose or cracked. It’ll be nice to know what you find
