If you are going to this extent of a swap, just replace the cam with a non vvt cam.

Neither the cams or the lifters will be moving...

Neither the cams or the lifters will be moving when disconnected. Range won’t work with aftermarket ECM. Some of the aftermarket stuff can contol the vvt, I think, but it isn’t required to use it.

I'm pretty sure they are locked unless the receive a signal to unlock.
