The cam sensor is there so the ECM knows where the camshaft is at for ignition timing. Has nothing to due with mechanical timing. Mechanical timing is set during installation and cannot be changed...

No problem. The only codes the headers alone usually cause are insufficient activity codes, that is fixed with tuning. These codes are a hard circuit fault, if I had to guess a wire got damaged...
