Thanks for the input. I had been talking to the dealer a couple weeks ago, and told them to get back to me if the car was still available after xmas. He did and I replied to his email and offered $39.5K. He didn't even email me back. I contacted the dealership through cargurus and made the offer again. They finally got back to me and said they would pass on the offer. In all honesty, I was expecting a counter offer, but they didn't even bother. And I would have considered it. They lost a potential sale because of their attitude. To me, that gives some insight on how they would be to work with as a dealership anyway. (they also have a GT350R at $20K over MSRP).

Yes, I have 2 special mustangs that I track, but i also have a '69 Firebird Trans Am clone track/street car that has a 600 horse LS3, a cage, and all the goodies that I built from scratch after finding it as a basket case on Craigslist. I'm not just a Mustang fan boy....I guess I am doing what I wish my dad had done when he was my age during the muscle car era...buying special cars that I enjoy driving and working on...that my son will have some day.

I am smart enough to know that saying that I am buying these cars as an investment is just my way of trying to justify the purchase to myself. The money could surely make a lot more invested elsewhere, but I like cars! I don't have a budget, but that doesn't mean I am not going to try to find what I think is the best possible deal! Do I think the car is worth $41ish...yes. I could go out and buy a ZL1 1LE, but I am far enough behind now that I can have fun looking for and buying used....and save a heck of a lot of money! The new 1LE is on the list for 2-3 years from now!
