Apologies for necro-posting.

Yes, I realize the last post to this thread was 2014.

But, in the meantime, I'd be interested to know how folks are satisfied (or dissatisfied) with this aftermarket dipstick installation.

Any solid info on why GM didn't want us to have a transmission dipstick on our cars?

I can already imagine suggestions like
  • "Saves weight," or
  • "Customers are too stupid to manage a transmission dipstick," or
  • "Let's make it extra hard to service the transmission, so the customer will come to us for service," or
  • "Let's make it less likely that they will ever service the transmission, so we can sell them a whole new car when the cost of repairing the never-serviced transmission exceeds the value of the car

I suspect its a combination of all those reasons. But, tell me if anybody thinks there is truly some good reason for the omission.
