I've been dead-set on a SS Convertible 6-speed since the concept vert was released...but with the onset of AFM (awesome!) and even the badass 6-banger we're gonna get, I may just have to go with a "lesser" model afterall that I can still enjoy but the wife can drive and I can afford easier.

You can't go wrong either way. Stop looking at AFM like it's some evil plot against you. Carb guys said that about EFI for YEARS, and look where we are today...most tuners will take a nice TBI set-up over a carb for a small block due tot he ease of tuning.
