Agreed. GM is scared of a lot of this new fangled stuff.

GM dealers don't install the update by copying the files to a USB drive and sticking it in the car like they, as well as customers, should be able to.

Its gonna be past update CE before any more usb problems are addressed anyways. Im calling GM after my car is back from the dealer to have the coolant hose update done.
A USB thumb drive installation method could solve the hardware problem.

My friggen TV had an update available that was this same method. There's no reason why GM can't just post the file(s) on a service website somewhere along with some brief instructions and warnings.
