Sounds like you haven't been in an American V8 performance car in a while  . Love my 1LE, and could daily drive it easily. As with any new car, sounds like you're just getting use to the differences from your recent rides. I've driven a Mini before, and it's night and day from a 1LE.
Just enjoy it for a while before you try to find faults......
