Did my first oil change on my SS today. What a pain.. Dealership must have torqued the filter to 100ft-lb. Couldn't get it with the serpentine belt and vice grip trick. Ended up hammering a hole saw on the end, which coincidentally had a 1/2" slot for the chuck, so my ratchet fit nicely. Was hoping it would not puncture (which it did) but, it backed off. I do not own an oil filter wrench, because I know the proper way to put them on. Nor have I had a car with it in a hard to reach "pocket" like this car.
Between the 8qts synthetic, filter, new larger oil pan, and an oil analysis, I'm in $100 for this one! But, all good!
