Just my experience driving my 1LS, V6 manual in the winter, but I have had the BFG Radial T/A spec tires and now the Falken ZIEX 950 A/S tires and both (especially the Falkens) have been great winter tires.

Of course you being in the N/E part of the country, you may get more snow than Ohio does and might need an actual winter tire.

Sorry I can't really help on the size issue though.
