I have the same setup as you 1SS w/ NPP. I got some TSP 1-7/8 catless headers uncoated (Great price and fitment) and kept the NPP exhaust but I added the 3 way DIY switch for the flaps and I couldn't be happier. Even my friends with 5.0 mustangs like the sound, it gets loudddd.

Coating does keep engine bay temps down and you can touch them minutes after running but its more personal preference. If you autocross race that may be a good idea tho.

Tuning, I ran about a month before I got my tune and it was fine but did have a check engine light because I had no rear o2's in the pipes, I can't speak for the high flo cat versions. You maximize the potential of the headers with a tune, you will feel the power increase but tuning does the trick. I got it from Dynosteve here on the forum, I highly recommend especially for bolt-ons. Without major mods like heads/cam/blower I can't justify a local Dyno tune.
