Well certainly they need to diagnose it properly before just changing parts. Is this a GM dealer? There are so many things that could be wrong I wouldn't attempt to guess over the net without more info. If you know what you;'re doing you could check if there is pressure in the system, that's the 1st thing you need to get the compressor to turn on. After that there is a pressure transducer that sends a varying signal to the PCM to report pressure in the system. There is a temp sensor that reports ambient temps to the PCM. Then the HVAC controller its self. Any of these could cause the compressor not to turn on. Does the AC light come on the HVAC control when pressed?
