I recently got mine in as well. Awesome shifter! I didn't honestly think the stock one was that bad, I just hated the knob. But after the swap, I can't believe how much more firm/positive the shifts are with this one. It did take longer to install than I would have guessed..but worth it! The strong return takes some getting used to. Had a couple accidental 1-4 shifts when I was just driving lightly. Love slamming this thing though the gears now!
Deciding what knob to get on it!
But really, there wasn't anything super "hard" about the install. It is just very involved and has quite a few steps. Many say the toughest part was probably getting the pins out of the old shifter. But the MGW installation video has an out-of-car transmission and they show you exactly how to release the pins. That helped a lot. It would have taken me forever to figure those out! To ME, the hardest part was getting the stock shift boot back on the MGW grommet. The hole left in the factory boot was much bigger than the grommet, and left me with a lot of extra material to deal with. Kept getting bunched up on one side, or would pull though when we tried to tighten it up. That probably took 45 minutes alone
Start to finish, it probably took me 5-6 hours to complete. This was with jacks and stands in the garage (lift would have helped a lot), and with me being super careful not to damage any of the interior when working inside the car.
I will also say, this is probably one of the best packaged products I have ever had. Everything was well protected, and the kit came with pretty much everything you need. All the parts were labeled well and easy to distinguish. If I ever had to get another camaro, I would get this again without a 2nd thought!
