For an oil recommendation, I'd post your mods. Bearing material, bearing clearance, lifters, cam, valves springs... climate, intended use.... all kinds of stuff play a role. All stock, just open the owner's manual.
For example... Newer cars with under .001" aluminum bearings, all stock... put in whatever the owner's manual says. Break it in exactly as the owner's many says. Take that same engine in a crate race version with .002"+ clearance tri-metal bearings... would use a little thicker viscosity and the break in would be a couple warm up laps then hammer down.
So... what's your mods, weather, intended use?
btw, just an opinion, diesel oil is for diesel engines. They are loaded with detergents to carry the diesel soot to the filter. And in a diesel engine, they don't care about detonation because they run on detonation. So, they are loaded with calcium. A gas performance engine is just the opposite... load up the anti wear zinc/phos, reduce detergents, avoid calcium or anything else that can create detonation.
