Next step is change the clutch master cylinder. This is probably the main culprit. You can not possibly burned out the clutch pads under 3000 miles. Unless you've been doing burnouts for 3000 miles. I've had the same problem engaging into 1st or 2nd. Sometimes in 2nd it would pop out. Dealer changed this part under warranty and it engages smooth now, also doesn't pop out under heavy load.
I wished I could of changed it to the adjustable one, instead they installed the regular factory one. Good luck.

This is for someone with high clutch peddle engagement. So most likely bad clutch master cylinder will cause your gears not to engage fully into each other, this is your case. I read Jon's old post. He is full of knowledge so read them. "Wise man learn for his mistakes, smart man learn from other people mistakes."
