As far as amenities. You will probably replace factory stereo and speakers in either car. You can easily install aftermarket stereo and face kit and install good speakers in the Z28. I just purchased a Z28 that was a summer daily driver just for the reason you spoke about the LS7, figuring a real low mileage one might still have issues lurking. But, it’s a mechanical item so anything can happen at any time, just gotta take care of it the best possible way. I’m going through mine now and just brake pads are at least $900 for a set(frt & rear) ac Delco pads. The rotors are $1400ish each if need replacing but those are good for “lifetime” of street driving. Mine are good as well so that seems to hold true unless you track it. Mine was missing the carbon fiber hood insert and I’m going for factory so that sucker was not cheap but I had to have it. The ride is harsher but someone else on another thread was talking about replacing struts for that reason. You could do that and I suggested a good pair of coil overs that you can adjust to get a softer ride but speak to the shock dealer first to see if you’ll get what your looking for and not just another stiff ride. The sway bars are smaller because the struts do more work. Don’t throw those dssv struts away, they are $$ as well. Oh yeah, I didn’t talk about zl1. That’s because it didn’t interest me at all. They are cool but just was not my thing. The Z28 is just raw and it’s more of the old muscle car that I grew up with.
Good luck
