I too figured I would get sprayed with fuel when I removed the fuel lines from the pressure buildup. The starting fluid, just like any car, makes it fire up briefly but if no gas being pumped, it dies.
The gas that did come out of the fuel lines did stink a little bit, but wasn't too bad overall or discolored. I've seen and have ran a lot worse in other cars.
Let it sit since yesterday, came home a little while ago, it fired up briefly (no starter fluid) when trying to start it and for a couple of seconds afterwards.
Not sure if what I am hearing is the pump or the actuator for the flap in the throttle body...because I can clearly hear and see that resetting itself on every start.
I will check the fuse next. Cheap and easy. Then if needed, I'll need to drop the tank, pull the pump and filter, clean or replace both. Not looking forward to that huge task, but I'm not going to cut a hole in the floor to access the pump as I'll likely screw that up!
Thanks Green and pyro!
