You're ONLY going to be in 4 cylinder mode during light cruising.
It will be easy to disable with any of a million minor modifications. I suspect that putting the transmission in "Sport" mode will turn off AFM, too; I'm pretty sure that putting a GM truck's transmission in "Tow/Haul" mode does.
