Obviously the newer the better but there really isnt any real noticeable diffrence between 98-02. The egr is no big deal, it can easily be removed if you wish and you could swap the intakes easily and cheaply, There was alittle diffrence in the heads but again not enough to really make a noticeable diffrence. I personally dont like the steering wheel on the 98-99 and the interior was slightly diffrent. My suggestion to you would be not look at year but instead condition, miles, and price. Other than that there isnt enough diffrence to say one year over another.
