I’ve never shifted a car into 1st before coming to a stop.
I was taught NEVER to do that and I’ve never heard of anyone doing that.
Not being harsh, just giving you thoughts…
As my mom taught me back in 8th grade teaching me to drive our 1980 mustang back home from baseball practice (I’m 54 now) .
Coming to a stop:
-Keep in any gear, let the car slow itself down in gear and push clutch in prior to stopping so she won’t stall. Shift to neutral, let clutch out (foot on brake) chill.
-If you want to downshift coming to a stop, do it , but appropriate gear for speed you’re going. Maybe second gear as you’re coming to a stop(using motor to slow car down) push clutch in and follow procedure in the previous listed step.
I can give you my moms number if you want. She’s still a pretty good driver at 78. She hasn’t driven my Z, but still drives my 79 Porsche 928 pretty good…
Giving you a hard time.. have fun, it’s a great car!!
