The higher warm weight is probably due to the expected increased running temperature on the track so that the 40 viscosity when operating at the higher temp is the same as 30 under "normal" conditions. I'm not sure that you will see a high enough temperature in NY in normal road use to justify. Maybe during a heat wave in southern Arizona.
