I did not drop my tank. I had previously cut the access hole when I originally did the zl1 pump.
My whole thought on doing the bulkhead is exactly what you mentioned about the threads and sealant lasting.
I do not have a filter sock on the bulkhead but I do have a pre-filter on my inline pump. (Between pump and bulkhead)
I did move my fuel pressure sensor to my fpr (also have a gauge on it too lol)
